Mainland Stoneworks FAQ

Have a countertops-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today or visit our showroom in Kernersville for more information!
  • Will my new countertop have a seam?

It will, but we understand that seam placement is very important to the overall appearance of your new countertops. We'll help you understand where seams will be and how they may affect the appearance of the stone, particularly with high-end varieties of stone with prominent veins.

  • How will my new countertops be attached?

We'll secure your new kitchen or bathroom countertops to the substrate with a non-staining adhesive (generally a common construction adhesive or silicone sealant).

  • Will my new stone countertop crack?

With normal use, your stone countertop should not crack. Fissures and pitting may occur in many stone types, but they do not make the countertop less durable or qualify the slab for replacement.

Cracks may occur due to mechanically induced stress during the fabrication, transportation, handling, and installation process. If we detect cracks in the slab prior to fabrication, we avoid them during the layout and installation processes.

  • Will the installers reconnect my electricity or plumbing?

We require homeowners to reinstall any electrical components or plumbing drains or fixtures. You will also need to do any touch-up painting that may be required around the countertops.

  • Will I need to have my new sinks and faucets on-site before you install my new countertops?

Yes. Any sinks or faucets that are part of the installation will need to be at the job site prior to our installation.

  • Will the installation create dust in my home or business?

Our installers work carefully to make your installation experience as pleasant as possible. However, some dust may be caused by grinding or cutting during the final fitting. You may wish to take measures to prevent dust from spreading beyond the installation area.
